Follow a Day in the Life of WWE World Champion Seth Rollins, Why There Isn’t More Classic Content on the WWE Network

Follow Seth Rollins’ Day

wwe smackdownThe Des Moines Register has an interesting piece up on WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. The interview follows Rollins throughout his hectic day of press, meet-and-greet, charity and eventually a WWE television taping, after getting no sleep the previous night driving from town to town. It’s a great read.

Classic Content on the Network?

We have received a few questions and comments from readers, wondering why there isn’t more classic content available on the WWE Network. According to F4WOnline.com, the reason is simple – there’s not very many people watching it.

Originally, the idea for the Network was to slowly roll out a giant library of pro wrestling content, from the newer pay-per-view product, to the live specials, to tons of classic content for the old school fans or newer fans looking to learn about the business. That was made pretty clear by WWE buying up as many libraries as possible in the years leading up to launch.

Somewhat predictably, the company’s core demographic is buying the Network for all the monthly pay-per-views and for the live specials, with NXT and the Jericho/Austin interviews being among some of the best drawing programming. So it’s really just a matter of what’s paying the bills. In this market, newer is better, and there just aren’t enough wrestling fans looking for old school wrestling to merit time, money and advertising being spent on it.
