Global Force Wrestling Live Event Results (6/13): Knoxville, TN; Cornette Remembers Dusty Rhodes, Tag Team Main Event, Moose vs Kong

global force wrestlingThanks to Joe Gray for sending in the following:

I went to the GFW show in Knoxville tonight. The card was almost the same as the one from Jackson on Friday. The differences are below:

-Sonjay Dutt and Chase Owens defeated Jason Kincaid and Jamin Olivencia

-Moose defeated Kongo Kong

-Chris Mordetsky (Masters) faced off against former WWE Developmental talent Devin Driscoll (Knoxville native).

-Jim Cornette cut a promo (likely the same as Jackson) in memory of Dusty.

-The New Heavenly Bodies had former Tennessee Volunteers basketball coach Donnie Tyndall (recently fired for NCAA recruiting violations) as their manager. Jim and Amber was in the Bullet Club’s corner. During a referee distraction, one of the New Heavenly bodies executed a low blow on Doc and made the cover. Tyndall pulled him off. Anderson hit one of the New Heavenly Bodies with Cornette’s signature tennis racket, while Tyndall broke his clipboard on the other New Heavenly Body’s head. Bullet Club for the win.

Overall: good show for an organization just starting out. There were too many comedy spots that were juvenile schtick.

There were numerous sound issues that eventually got worked out before Cornette came out.

My only complaint is that I bought the $40 VIP ticket vice the $15 general admission ticket and during the meet and greet, I had to pay for photos to be autographed; despite not wanting an autograph, just to be able for my wife to take a pic on her phone. Masters originally required it, but backed away from it and the Bullet Club was the same way. I paid $10 each for pics with Moose and Doc. To be clear, I didn’t have problems paying to get a photo with them, I just wish I had known it was going to be that way in advance. I know the wrestlers rely on this to make a living and have no problem paying.

Note: Jarrett and Cornette were the most down to earth wrestlers/promoters I’ve ever met. They seemed to genuinely care. Jim was more than willing to reminisce about his SMW days.

Funny Note: someone dressed up as Kevin Owens (with a black headband with yellow polka dots [Dream tribute]) that tried to get Cornette to cut a promo on him. I don’t think he was successful.

In conclusion, I think GFW has good potential. You could tell it was only their 2nd show and they were working out the kinks. I’m excited to see what Jarrett can make of the company. Having Tyndall was a great political move. 2 of the 3 local news stations covered his attendance. I don’t know how I feel about the 6 sided ring, but I am not opposed to it yet.
