Backstage News on Why the Recent TNA Releases Are Happening, Who Might Be Returning, How TNA Currently Sees Itself, GFW & More

tnaAs noted, numerous TNA stars, including James Storm, Magnus, Taryn Terrell, Austin Aries and more have either finished up with TNA already or will be finishing up following tonight’s Slammiversary PPV.

According to PWInsider.com, James Storm and Magnus approached TNA officials and asked to be released from their current deals. Because TNA isn’t running live events right now, and because Storm and Magnus have work waiting for them elsewhere, they wanted to be able to make money outside of TNA for their families, so it was a business decision for them to leave.

TNA officials were understanding of both Storm and Magnus’ situations, and agreed to release them from their deals. TNA understands the possibility that a company like WWE could sign both talents, but it’s a risk TNA is willing to take, and the current feeling is Magnus will be working the first set of Global Force Wrestling TV tapings. TNA does have plans to bring both Storm and Magnus back for future TV tapings (assuming they don’t sign with a company like WWE).

With regards to the current state of TNA, the company looks at itself right now as a TV product, and is adjusting to doing business differently than before. The company is not in the financial situation it was once in, so it’s only able to keep top talents, like Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy, locked into deals.

More talent releases/departures could be happening in the near future, but it is being said TNA is very interested in working with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling, and with Jarrett’s impending Hall of Fame induction, a talent share between promotions is not out of the question.
