Jeff Jarrett Discusses the Future of Global Force Wrestling, a Possible TV Deal, How GFW Could Tie Into TNA and Much More

jeff jarrettIt’s not often that a wrestling legend starts his own promotion, but Jeff Jarrett has now done so…twice. Jarrett made some big waves in the wrestling industry when he announced Global Force Wrestling a little over one year ago. Now, business appears to be picking up as news has been coming out about talent acquisitions, a potential crossover with TNA, as well as confirmed TV tapings taking place in Las Vegas at the end of July. Double J called in to The Gentlemen’s Show to discuss all that’s been happening, as well as provide a glimpse at what’s to come.

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON, PA – July 9th, 2015 – Check any of the dirt sheets or read any of the pro wrestling news sites, and you’ll no doubt see that Jeff Jarrett has been making a lot of headlines lately with his new start-up promotion, Global Force Wrestling. From talent acquisitions, to live events, to rumors of big legal deals going on behind closed doors, Jarrett has been turning heads. Now, as the news stories continue to mount, Jarrett took some time to talk to The Gentlemen’s Show about everything that’s been going on, and everything that the future potentially holds.

Coming off of winning the King of the Mountain Championship at TNA Slammiversary 2015, Jeff took the time to talk about his “surreal” return to the Impact Zone, including how it could possibly tie into the future of Global Force Wrestling.

“One step at a time,” said Jarrett.

He also took time to talk about GFW growing as a brand, and the acquisition of different talents from different promotions from around the world.

With regard to whether or not a TV deal has been made, Jarrett was reluctant to give away too much, but did imply that television may not be the sole method of distributing content for GFW. “The world is a different place,” he said. “You have multiple forms of entertainment [distribution]. You have… cable television, and that business is on its ear. Then you have Netflix and the streaming services of the world. And then on top of that, YouTube, in and of itself, is a form of content distribution. There’s so many different types.” Finishing off his thought, he did mention the upcoming GFW TV tapings, saying, “We’re going to Vegas [on] July 24th, and we’re going to start producing high-quality content, and our goal is for every wrestling fan to have the ability to consume it some shape, form, or fashion.”

When asked if he agrees with some suggestions that we are experiencing a pro wrestling “Renaissance”, Double J gave assent to the notion, especially because of advances in technology. “I truly believe that. When you have the ability to use Periscope, and…a kid in Bulgaria watched our wrestling event in Nashville, Tennessee…technology is great. …And with everything we have…Lucha Underground, New Japan, Ring of Honor, TNA, Global Force, and obviously WWE…you have more availability to watch professional wrestling than you ever have,” he said.
