WWE Officially Confirms Randy Orton vs. Sheamus For WWE Battleground; Updated Card w/ 6 Announced Matches

WWE.com has officially confirmed that Randy Orton will face off against Sheamus – the current Money in the Bank briefcase holder – at this Sunday’s WWE Battleground PPV.

WWE World Heavyweight Title Match

Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins (c)

U.S. Title Match

Kevin Owens vs. John Cena (c) 

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

WWE Tag Team Title Match

The New Day vs. Prime Time Players (c) 

Intercontinental Title Match

Big Show vs. Ryback (c) vs. The Miz

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

Battleground 2014 was one of the worst shows of the entire year, and this card already looks infinitely better. I think that will only improve if the NXT women are added to the show, as anticipated. Orton and Sheamus hasn’t been the most interesting program in recent memory, but there’s no way they have a bad match on Sunday, as two of the most consistently solid in-ring workers of the past decade. Don’t sleep on Battleground this weekend.
