Exclusive: Chavo Guerrero Talks “The Chavo Show,” Future Of Lucha Underground, Contract Leaks, Writing a Comic Book, Roddy Piper and Much More

Below is the audio from an exclusive interview Lucha Underground producer and pro wrestling legend Chavo Guerrero Jr. granted to WrestleZone. It features Chavo talking with WrestleZone Daily host Nick Hausman.

The following are excerpts from the above interview with Chavo:

NH: You’ve got a new show on Geek Nation called The Chavo Show, can you fill everyone in on exactly what The Chavo Show is?

CG: You know, everyone out there has got a new podcast and this is definitely something different. This is not a podcast it’s in video form and you can watch it on GeekNation.com. It’s me and a couple of my best friends, drinking beer and talking smack. It’s really kind of the same stuff I do in my garage when I get a couple of these friends over. We just have a couple of beers and just talk about things. For example, I had “Rampage” Jackson, the MMA fighter, he’s been on the show. He’s a good friend of mine. So, when we’re drinking beers I’m not asking him, “So, when did you start your MMA career?” He’s answered that question a hundred times. What I ask is, “When is the first time you got your butt kicked?” Or, “Who kicked your butt for the first time?” And he’s like, “Oh man, the first time was in the third grade!” And he launches in to a story about it. That’s the stuff I’m talking about. I’m asking him, “What’s the first car you had sex in?” That kind of stuff. Because that’s the kind of stuff that’s totally different.

NH: Last week was the season finale of Lucha Underground. Will we get a season two of Lucha Underground?

CG: We better damn well get a season two, damn it. It’s too good! It’s too good. Everybody is asking for it. You know what, there’s going to be a season two. In fact, the El Rey network wants it. They’ve already ordered more episodes. But, we have a high production value. So, we’re trying to bridge the costs and get some more money to keep that production value very high. If we come in to the second season and our production value is not as high, it’s going to affect the show. We almost have to come in and be better. The sequel has got to be better than the first one to catch that audience. It can’t be lackluster like if you come in to see Ted 2 and are like, “Well, uh, ok?” We have to be TERMINATOR 2! It came out and was better than the first one.

In the full interview Chavo chats candidly about his personal relationship with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, growing up in a pro wrestling family, writing his first comic book, becoming a producer for Lucha Underground, whether or not there will be a season two, how he feels about contracts being leaked on-line, what some of his favorite beers are & MORE
