WZ SummerSlam Pre-Party In Brooklyn, Main Event Sunday Will Be Big In WWE History Books

SummerSlam Party

I’ll be hosting a SummerSlam pre-party on Sunday at 200 Fifth bar located at 200 5th Ave in Brooklyn. The bar is a 10 minute walk to the Barclays Center for SummerSlam.

The party is from 2-5pm. It has 41 draft beers, $3 cans of beer and much more! WZ will also be doing some live Periscope from the event!

Sunday Will Be Historic

I have a new column for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review every Monday and Friday. Today’s looks at this Sunday’s main event at SummerSlam being one for the WWE history books. The following is an excerpt:

WWE’s attempting to make this SummerSlam its biggest ever. So far, so good.

The company has expanded the length to four hours, has celebrity involvement, is in the media capital of the world, ESPN is setting up camp outside the arena all day, and two of the its biggest draws ever are headlining.

Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker isn’t brand new, but there’s no dust that needs blown off it. It was 18 months ago they had the world talking when Lesnar beat Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. Not just the wrestling world, but the mainstream media even understood this was a story.

The announcement of this match alone over a month ago was enough to basically make SummerSlam a sellout. Everything else was going to be a bonus.

Lesnar is an attraction like no other. I constantly remind fans to take it in, enjoy every appearance and appreciate him. You’re going to miss him when he’s gone because there will never be anyone else like him.

The Undertaker has stood the test of time as he approaches his 25-year anniversary with WWE. When he debuted, how long do you think a character like that would last? I’m not sure what the common answer was then, but I’ll bet my SummerSlam tickets the answer wasn’t 25 years. He’s been the cornerstone for the company during its incredible growth the past quarter century.

Sunday’s main event has no undefeated streak on the line. There’s no title on the line. Yet, I’m more excited for this match than I was for the previous one 18 months ago.

This match is one of the precious chances to see the freak of nature that is Lesnar in his special-attraction schedule. This is the first pay-per-view match other than a WrestleMania for The Undertaker since the fall of 2010.
