More Backstage News on Vince’s Reaction to Low Raw Ratings

michael coleAs noted, Vince McMahon has not been happy with the recently low Raw ratings trend, and according to The Wrestling Observer, after the low rating came in for the 9/21 edition of Raw, Vince put enormous pressure on the creative team, even more pressure than the previous two weeks.

This week’s Raw rating came in at a record low, so you can imagine how upset Vince was when he was made aware of the number. Vince has been known to make major changes to the WWE product when he begins panicking about the ratings, and one move he’s made for next week is to bring Brock Lesnar in for the show.

Michael Cole Talks Dramatic Weight Loss

As noted, Michael Cole has made a dramatic physical change, as he’s lost 65 pounds in 11 months time. WWE.com interviewed Cole recently, and below is a quote from the Raw announcer regarding his weight loss:

“It was the perfect storm. All factors came together at once last October; getting older, being on television on a weekly basis, my metabolism slowing down, being unhappy when I looked at myself in the mirror and my energy wasn’t what it used to be. I was climbing mountains, and the big mountain that we tried to climb was Grand Teton in Wyoming. We got snowed off the mountain at 12,500 feet and even if we didn’t get snowed off, I knew inside that I wasn’t going to be able to finish the climb. I knew I wasn’t in shape to do it. All of those things combined made me realize that I needed to make some life changes.

I started at 226 pounds with 29.9 percent body fat and as of today, 11 months later, I weigh 169 pounds with 6.5 percent body fat. I was down 65 pounds, but I’ve put on a little weight because we changed my diet and added some calories. I feel better now at 48 years old than I did at 21 years old.”
