Why WWE Should Move Daniel Bryan To Part-Time Schedule

Every Monday and Friday I have a column for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Today’s talks Daniel Bryan and why I think WWE moving Daniel Bryan to a part-time schedule is better than the other alternatives. Here’s an excerpt:

As months go by, continued speculation and frustration from fans grows in regards to the status of Daniel Bryan and if he’s cleared to wrestle again.

He briefly was advertised for an upcoming European tour in a few weeks, but then those advertisements were retracted. Thus, the latest chapter of people wanting answers.

Bryan has been out since April with more complications to his health. It has been two Aprils in a row that Bryan has had to leave his WWE schedule due to injury after stepping away in 2014 when he was the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. This year, he was holding the Intercontinental title.

I don’t know if Bryan ever is coming back to wrestle or when that will be. Nobody really does. But I know if he does come back, things need to change.

He is the best bell-to-bell performer in terms of the range of abilities he has to put on a complete match. However, several signature moves and the general style Bryan uses certainly has to be linked over time to the health issues he’s dealing with now.

I also know many fans will be disappointed if he does return to regular action and isn’t used in the top title picture, sooner rather than later. Bryan and the fans worked hard to get him to that top spot, and they barely got to enjoy it as the string of injuries began less than a month after winning.

I get their disappointment in being fans of Bryan. I’m a big one too, but realistically, how can you blame WWE?

When the company pushes talent, it’s an investment in time, money and resources. When a guy gets hurt and forced you to change plans, it affects a lot of things and other people
