On his take about what is happening with the Seth Rollins’ injury situation:

JL: It’s wild. That was the premise for my column in the Pittsburgh Tribune. Obviously injuries are always unfortunate. Seth was the work horse for the company this year. I hope he gets back to 100% but this is a golden opportunity, no matter where you are. Whether it’s football and someone goes down… there’s an opportunity. This is the ultimate golden opportunity because you have the title vacated at a time where, let’s be real here, there’s been a lot with the ratings being as low as they’ve been. People are chattering about how good this roster is developing with NXT and everything but the creative may not be as sharp as it needs to be. WWE has basically been granted a reset button. People always think, “Oh, this blows storylines up.” You can’t. When you are doing weekly television like they do you have to at least get some conclusion. You have to get payoffs. It’s not easy to snap fingers and just get out of a story. That’s just like any episodic television. You have to at least try to kill somebody off or do what you got to do. Here, they’ve been granted the reset button. It’s just a golden opportunity. While I feel bad for Seth Rollins obviously as we approach this historic WrestleMania in four months we are in a very peculiar time. With John Cena taking some time off, Randy Orton injured, guys like The Big Show and Kane. Jericho and all of the veterans on a very, very part-time, limited kind of usage. History could judge the company by what they do in the next two weeks in terms of how we go in to the next era.

On whether he saw the next generation of referees being trained when he visited the WWE Performance Center:

JL: I can tell you this is a conversation I had with Matt Bloom. A different referee is assigned to… I think it’s five classes… beginners, intermediates and then advanced. Each coach is in charge of a different class and they assign a referee to each class. I don’t know if it made the final cut of the video or the columns and stuff that I wrote. I know I have the original somewhere. In our conversation Matt is talking about how, “Hey, you know the referees are just as important to build chemistry with these performers.” Obviously to work on their talents and their skills.
