Update: The Very Latest Backstage News on Top NJPW Stars Possibly Debuting in the Royal Rumble Match

As we noted earlier today, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com reported that as of now there are no plans for AJ Styles to make his WWE debut in the Royal Rumble Match on Sunday night, but it’s more likely he will debut on Raw the following night.

PWInsider.com is reporting that it’s unlikely Styles has completed all the required WWE medical testing to clear him to compete in the Royal Rumble match, but it’s not out of the question. In recent weeks there had been talks of having Styles as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match, but that won’t happen unless Styles is 100% cleared by WWE’s medical staff.

As for Doc Gallows, he was recently in Pittsburgh undergoing WWE medical testing, but it’s unlikely he will be appearing in the Rumble match. At last word, Gallows and Karl Anderson were scheduled to debut in WWE NXT as a tag team, and if that is still the plan, Gallows would have to wait until after February 1st to debut as Karl Anderson’s NJPW deal does not expire until after the first of the month.

Shinsuke Nakamura, as previously reported, is still on track to come to the United States sometime in February to begin WWE medical testing and workout at the Performance Center.
