New York Post Confirms WWE Reduces Titus O’Neil’s Suspension, WWE Responds to Accusations of Racially Motivated Punishment

Earlier today, Justin LaBar was the first to report, via the WrestleZone Daily podcast, that Titus O’Neil’s 90 day suspension for unprofessional conduct has been reduced to 60 days. You can check out today’s edition of WZ Daily in the audio player below.

The New York Post has since confirmed O’Neil’s reduced suspension, and below is an excerpt from their article, titled “Fans call Vince McMahon a racist for suspending black wrestler”:

Titus O’Neil, a 38-year-old Florida native known for his immense charity work and larger-than-life personality, has been sidelined for what’s being described as “unprofessional conduct,” according to WWE.

The company originally told The Post that he was expected to miss the biggest show of the year — Wrestlemania — after being suspended for 90 days following an incident on this week’s episode of “Monday Night Raw.” But they later confirmed that he will actually be suspended for 60 days, instead.

The Post article also includes many messages from fans who feel WWE’s suspension of O’Neil was racially motivated, and WWE issued the following statement in response to the fan complaints:

“The suspension of Titus O’Neil had nothing to do with race and everything to do with unprofessional conduct,” WWE told the Post in a statement. They added that Titus “acknowledged the gravity of his mistake” in a text message, writing:

“I feel like s–t now so if you have to let me go, I understand. Stupid mistake.”

As noted, O’Neil was suspended after he “playfully, physically” grabbed Vince McMahon during Daniel Bryan’s post-WWE Raw speech this week, and you can check out footage of the incident below:
