On GFW’s partnership with the producers of American Ninja Warrior, Hell’s Kitchen & Spartan Race (A. Smith & Co.):

JJ: Arthur Smith is the Founder & President and his partner is Kent Weed. They are the biggest of the big boys when it comes to production companies. A great group. With their background it really attracted me. Arthur is from Montreal and in his 20’s he was producing the Olympics for Canadian television. It really blew me away just what he’s done. All the FOX regional networks and then he moved on and founded his own company. He’s got a big list of shows that he’s produced and currently, like you said, Hell’s Kitchen is a big show. Multiple seasons on FOX. Big, big budget shows. American Ninja Warrior. Spartan Race. What are we doing with those guys? At the end of the day I’ll use a quote from Arthur, “We’re producing a professional wrestling show.” Not to be read in to the release that Variety and a couple of others picked up. The quotes were sensationalistic but once we reveal the show I think people will have the light go off and they’ll say, “This is cool. This is cool!” It’s obviously way too early to share the specifics but at the end of the day we are going to be producing a fantastic professional wrestling show.

On Shane McMahon’s WWE return and his thoughts on the McMahon family dynamic behind the scenes:

JJ: When Shane came out on Monday Night RAW a couple of weeks ago it was fantastic. Before I was a promoter and a wrestler I was a fan. The old adage about the suspension of disbelief always works. Growing up in whatever territory you were in… whether it was the Von Erichs against The Freebirds, Jerry Lawler vs Bill Dundee, Dusty vs Flair… whatever big time rivalry. Those guys had a reality based conflict. When you look at the McMahon family it is without question that they may be able sit down at dinner and have a great meal but life is life. The wrestling business got in between me and my father. I lived it for years. It’s just how the wrestling business is. There is without question tension, real tension, in that dynamic. Then you put Triple H in that mix and it takes it to another level because of his in-ring career and his transition in to an executive role. You see Shane, Triple H, Stephanie and Vince, in my opinion, he’s one of the greatest heels of all time. It’s fantastic television without question.
