Updates On The Classic Wrestling Revolution, What Are They Telling Talent About Launch Delay?, Where Will They Tape TV Episodes?, More

Thanks to PWInsider.com a lot of details have emerged this morning about the rumored upstart company Classic Wrestling Revolution in Las Vegas. ECW original Shane Douglas has been working with backer Bill Townsend, an internet entrepreneur, for at least the last several months. The first I can remember hearing anything about the project was in my WrestleZone Radio interview with Jake “The Snake” Roberts months ago when he mentioned he was set to be involved.

You can listen to that interview in the embedded audio player below:

You can read the full report about the state of CWR by clicking HERE. Below are some of the highlights:

  • A letter was issued to talent involved saying that launch plans had been delayed 3 to 6 months for several reasons including the deaths of three of their funding partners
  • They have not received the sanctioning they need due to new rules having to be created for the company because they are, “so new”
  • The letter also noted that they are 48 days behind schedule of their “arena” which is being constructed in the parking lot outside the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas
  • It also states that the company will be using “augmented reality” and that it needs “seats that could tie into our virtual and augmented reality fan experience”
  • The company has allegedly bought $36 million “in technology” for the company
  • CWR is also claiming to have “secured broadcast and cable and distribution that reaches 1.3 billion people
  • They say they have hired eight announcers, training staff and “world class” coaches but did not identify any of the hires

We will have more details about CWR as they continue to emerge.
