Event Note For PPV Listed On Rumored WWE Brand Split Schedule, Sony Acquires New Rock Project; Is He Up For Classic Horror Movie Role?

WWE Brand Split

As noted earlier, the apparent “leaked” schedule for the remainder of the 2016 PPV calendar following the WWE brand split has reportedly been confirmed by Sky Italy.

Since then, the WWE Night of Champions name has been replaced on Ticketmaster with the “Clash of the Champions” name, which was recently submitted to trademark. So far, this is the only confirmed event out of the new ones listed for the brand split PPVs.

Although it remains unconfirmed, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that the reason the Backlash PPV would be a WWE Network exclusive event is because it would run sooner than the 90 day minimum that PPV providers normally stick to.

The Rock

Deadline‘s Mike Fleming Jr. is reporting The Rock may be considered for another new acting role, with his name coming up in rumors for Universal’s new Wolf Man movie that would be part of the classic monsters revival at the studio.

In addition to reporting this, Deadline also announced Sony Pictures’ acquisition of Son of Shaolin, which will be produced by The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions. The project is based off an upcoming graphic novel, involving a Kung Fu story with Shaolin mythology and current issues for teens mixed in.
