New Japan ran their annual Kizuna Road event late last night / early this morning, broadcast live on New Japan World and there’s a few important pieces of news coming out of the show. The most entertaining bit of news is the continuation of an online feud between New Japan’s trios team The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) and WWE’s current tag team champions the New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E).

Earlier this year at WWE Money in the Bank, it was the New Day that escalated the banter to the WWE Network, when making a reference about being the most “elite” team in pro wrestling. But last night at Kizuna Road, the Elite took things to a completely different level, actually coming to the ring in three different New Day t-shirts, emulating the WWE team’s signature entrance on the way down to the ring. Check it out:

Unfortunately for the Elite members of the Bullet Club, Omega and the Young Bucks then lost the NEVER Openweight trios championships to the team of Matt Sydal (former WWE star Evan Bourne), Ricochet (Lucha Underground’s Prince Puma) and Satoshi Kojima.

Kojima then promptly called down friend and long-time New Japan star Hiroyoshi Tenzan, who has recently been very vocal about not being included in this year’s G1 Climax tournament, which kicks off later this month. Tenzan has become somewhat synonymous with the G1, holding the record for most times competing, and has participated almost every year since 1995, winning three times. Kojima then offered his 5-time IWGP Tag Team Championship partner his spot in the upcoming tournament, on the condition that he promised to win it all one last time.
