On the 2016 WWE Draft:

CB: It was a pretty straight forward presentation. In the past when I was there you’d do things like have someone wrestle for the right to get the first draft pick. So there is something to that. Or you have some kind of shocking trade. Or one of the stars that got drafted rubs up against management the wrong way, pisses them off and gets traded that same day to the other side. There’s all these things you can do that kind of create a few twists in the road throughout a two hour show. Plus 180 minutes of Network content that same night. Which, actually, those three or four people on the panel. Corey Graves, Lita, Booker T and Renee. They did a fantastic job when you think about what they put in on that 180 minute deal. I didn’t see those elements at play. I would have loved to have seen some more twists and turns to make that draft a little more of a dynamic presentation. It’s a lot to process and chew on for their whole team. There was so much change on the day of from what I was told. A lot of what we saw on the final presentation of the draft. Hours earlier we could have had different people being drafted from NXT, from RAW to Smackdown… it was changing up to the moment. That has a direct impact on making those twists and turns. When you are booking on the fly essentially you don’t have that luxury to continue to do that. It affects everything. There’s a domino effect when you take something out of the equation. When you can’t do that thing you want to do in the middle of the night. With a trade or a guy gets fired or whatever happens.

During Court’s full appearance he also discusses:

  • Ric Flair coming to MLW
  • His thoughts on how the WWE Draft was presented
  • How WWE handled the drafting of Reigns & Lesnar
  • What is going on with Heath Slater and what his future could look like
  • More…
