Backstage Update on Paul Heyman’s SummerSlam Status Amidst Contract Holdup with WWE, What is Causing the Delay in Reaching a New Deal?

As noted, Paul Heyman is amidst a contract holdup with WWE and as of this writing the Brock Lesnar advocate has yet to re-sign with the company. This has lead to speculation regarding Heyman’s WWE future, and according to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Heyman is currently negotiating a new deal with WWE after his previous contract expired in May. The report added the negotiations should not, however, prevent Heyman from appearing at WWE SummerSlam in August.

The Wrestling Observer first reported Heyman’s contract status this week, and now multiple sources are reporting the holdup is over both sides trying to settle on the extent of Paul Heyman’s outside projects.

As noted, Heyman signed a distribution deal with Yahoo Sports back in March to produce exclusive content, and he also announced a new reality show is in the works.

Despite the delay in signing a new deal, Heyman and WWE are expected to hammer everything out before SummerSlam so Heyman can accompany Brock Lesnar to the ring for his match against Randy Orton.
