Cody Rhodes

As noted earlier, Cody Rhodes revealed he found a missing nameplate originally made for his father, Dusty Rhodes, after his legendary title win over Ric Flair in 1986.

Cody says the missing plate, which was rumored to have never been produced, has been found and plated on the ‘Big Gold Belt’ that Dusty won. The WCW Worldwide site added a little more to the story, noting the reason this Dusty Rhodes plate (that Cody showed sketches for in his Tweets) is so sought after is because no one outside of the Jim Crockett Promotion and the jewelers, Crumrine Jewelers in Reno, Nevada, have ever seen it. The number of plates produced were low, and outside of plates for Sting and Ric Flair, they were the only plates produced by Crumrine to match the belt.

There were plates made for Rhodes and Ronnie Garvin but neither were attached to the title during their reigns, or at least for Garvin as a keepsake since his was ordered after he lost the title to Flair. It was said by Worldwide that Garvin does not know if he still has his plate in his possession, making it that more interesting that Cody was not only able to find the Dusty plate, but attach it to the original World Heavyweight Championship belt.
