WWE Backlash

AJ Styles defeated Dolph Ziggler in the main event of tonight’s WWE Smackdown Live, and will face WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose in a singles championship match at WWE Backlash.

The match came about after AJ Styles was bragging about beating John Cena, and called Dolph Ziggler a loser. The two brawled until they were separated, then almost came to blows again later in the show, but Daniel Bryan put a stop to it. Bryan booked them in the main event, noting Styles should be in line for a title shot, but adds a stipulation that if Ziggler were to beat Styles tonight, he’d get a title shot, and Dean Ambrose would defend his championship in a triple threat.

After a hard fought battle, Styles won by kicking the back of Ziggler’s knee before taking him down and pinning him with a Styles Clash. After the match, Styles and champion Ambrose had a staredown at ringside, and Styles knocked Ambrose’s headseat off and talked a bit of trash as the show came to a close.
