Randy Orton
As noted earlier, WWE reportedly knew about Randy Orton’s injury a week ago, and discussed the decision to pull him from the WWE Backlash match against Bray Wyatt in the last 7-10 days.
The idea of adding Kane to the card as a replacement was not a last second decision, and had planned for the possibility of Orton missing the event since he was still having injury issues, described by some sources as concussion related. Orton hasn’t wrestled since WWE Summerslam, and was not on the road for this weekend’s Smackdown live events. PWInsider also noted that if Orton is not cleared to compete by 9/24, his rematch against Brock Lesnar in Chicago could also be in jeopardy.
