Daniel Bryan Talks About His Philly Roots, Working As ROH Trainer, Being Hesitant To Say He’d Wrestle Again

WWE Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan recently spoke with Philly.com‘s Matt Breen while promoting tonight’s episode of Smackdown, which tapes in Philadelphia tonight. You can read some highlights below:

Daniel Bryan talks about his time wrestling in Philadelphia, including Ring of Honor:

“I loved wrestling in Philly. It was such an exciting time in my life. That really helped me grow and think differently. It was also just a lot of fun. This northeast independent scene was just rocking with guys who a lot of are now in the WWE or had been in the WWE. It was super cool.”

Bryan talks about his time working for ROH as their trainer:

“Their attendance was not very good. I always feel like I wasn’t the best trainer, because I’m really good at teaching people stuff but I’m not good if people aren’t super psyched – if they’re not like me. If they just come in and say ‘Yeah! I want to be a wrestler.’ Well OK, what do you want to learn today?”

Bryan says it’s easy to say he’d wrestle again, but he has his family to think about:

“It’s a very complex issue. If I was on my own, if I wasn’t married, I would be like ‘Yeah, when my contract is up. I’m gone.’ Hell, I might even be wearing a mask at an independent show next week dressed up as star man, Because it’s what I love to do. But, it becomes different when you have a wife and you’re trying to have kids.”
