As noted, former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, now known as Alberto El Presidente, was the guest on today’s episode of The Taz Show, and below are some interview highlights. You can listen to the full interview at this link.

On Paige’s Suspension:

Everyone knows who we are, who they are. All I can say is that it is BS, complete BS. She didn’t deserve that, but we’re working on fixing it, and just like she [Paige] said yesterday; same crap different day. It’s never going to change. She doesn’t deserve that, and for whatever reason there are so many people out there who are just trying to break this, it drives me crazy to see people are  trying to keep us apart, trying to break us up, but we’re fine, we’re happy and that is all that matters.

On the Independent Wrestling Scene:

I told this to one of the main guys over there in that office. I said, you live inside this bubble where you don’t think there is anything else outside of WWE, and I prove you wrong one time and I’m going to prove you wrong again. I was doing fantastic before I came back; there is a lot of work out there. If you have the talent, there is a lot of work out there, a lot of money out there, with people who are passionate about this business, and I am one of those guys. I have love for this business since the day I was born. Yeah, there are some people out there who were trying to kill my love for this, but that’s never going to happen. It was me that decided that I was no longer going to stay with WWE, I don’t like what you are doing with me. I left on my own terms.

On Being Grateful For His Time in WWE:

I’m always going to be grateful with what WWE did for me. They put me out there to showcase my talent for everyone to see, and what I can do, so in that sense, I am always going to be grateful to them, but I was going to a place where I was not feeling appreciated or happy. I remember my dad saying, if you don’t like what you do at the moment, then you have the power to change it, so why aren’t you doing it? That was the day I said, you know what, I can’t stay here. Life is too short. Thank you to those guys for everything they did for me, but now I am focusing on other stuff.

On His Role with Combate Americas:

I wish I can tell you everything I can. Tonight we are telling the world what is up, what my role is going to be with that company. We have an event in Verona, New York. There will be a big announcement tonight, a VIP Conference party, where are going to tell everybody about Combate [Combate Americas], but it’s going to be fun. That is all I can tell you. They have an amazing group of people behind the company. I can tell you this, I know this is going to be difficult to be bigger than UFC because UFC has a lot of years, but I can see Combate Americas being the second most important MMA company in the states, and the best latino company of MMA within a few years.
