On Steve Austin meeting Eric Bischoff for the first time in WWE in Bandera, TX following Eric firing Steve Austin from WCW:

BP: The wrestling rumor mill and what have you had run rampant. It’s you fired Steve Austin. Steve Austin hated you. You hated Steve and blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, do you remember when you can to work at WWE? Steve was on sabbatical at the time and you were in as the General Manager and we were going to go to Bandera, TX to find “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Internally it was funny to me that people who didn’t know, didn’t know Steve or didn’t know you. You were relatively new in the company. I probably knew you better than anybody and still we didn’t know each other that well at that point. I had been around you long enough to know, “Well, ok, Eric is just a guy doing his job. Trying the best he can.” And I knew Steve but there was so much apprehension with people going, “Oh my God! Well how’s Steve going to react to Eric?” “How’s Eric going to react to Steve?” “Eric fired him.” So on and so forth and I had to go down there to Bandera. I don’t know if you remember but before I got you two together it was so funny because everyone else was so worried about you two coming together for the first time. I remember calling Steve ahead of time and Steve being tickled to death to do the deal in Bandera, TX with you. I said, “Hey man, I’m just going to get to it… is there any heat there.” He says, “Aw HELL NO! Best damned thing that ever happened to me!” I remember asking you, “Is there any heat?” You were like, “No. There’s no heat. It was a business decision. We had to do what we had to do. No, I don’t have any heat with Steve at all.” You guys got together, talked for about an hour, had a beer and everyone was great.

EB: We had three beers just so you know.
