Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns haven’t been on the same page for well over two years, but tonight at WWE Survivor Series The SHIELD held a brief reunion live on pay-per-view. After Ambrose had been eliminated from the Raw vs. Smackdown tradition Survivor Series match, he made a return to the ring to attack WWE World Champion AJ Styles until a swarm of officials and security guards attempted to remove him from the arena.
Reigns and Rollins then made the save for their former partner, and despite competing on opposite sites of the match, threw things back to 2013 with a devastating triple powerbomb to AJ Styles, right through the announce table.
It was ultimately Team Smackdown that won the war in the end, with Luke Harper giving an assist to his Wyatt Family brethren, turning the tide against the SHIELD members.
It’s unclear if WWE has plans for Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns together going forward, but it’s worth pointing out that continuing to book them together without some kind of trade being made between Raw and Smackdown would essentially void the entire purpose of the recent Brand Split. Out of pure speculation, however, with the program between Styles and Ambrose obviously going forward, an inter-brand program between The SHIELD and The Club is definitely an intriguing possibility…
