NXT

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting the Samoa Joe versus Shinsuke Nakamura finish at NXT Takeover Toronto was done so the program could continue. Nakamura winning again wouldn’t really leave much left, and WWE is taping the rematch in Osaka, Japan and the Melbourne, Australia event will feature the two facing off in a cage match.

The Observer noted Joe’s win would indicate he won’t be called up too quickly, but him winning made the most sense. Nakamura doesn’t have to remain unbeaten to be over, and it would seem like they are headed towards a Bobby Roode title program. Nakamura being the champion at that time would make the most sense, as would him regaining the title in Osaka, Japan in front of his home country.

On a related note, it was noted that several of the matches at NXT Takeover Toronto last minute changes. It was not confirmed which matches, but the Observer speculated that it could have been the two tag matches on the card due to reported plans for The Revival versus TM-61 matches on the Australia tour.
