Ellsworth

CSR’s Justin LaBar gave his TLC thoughts on upgruv.com and talked about James Ellsworth turning heel being something that was needed. Here’s an excerpt:

James Ellsworth turned heel and that’s exactly what had to happen to get the full mileage out of him in his WWE tenure.

The road had come to an end with him being the wimpy underdog.

It was a short road. It was a back road, one taken by wrestlers sold as not belonging. Ellsworth lacked offense, owed his accomplishments to being in the right place at the right time, and his “look” wasn’t believable.

Ellsworth as an in-ring competitor? The guy who would be pushed around by the wind while raking leaves?

Had he been a special attraction, popping up occasionally and going away after his underdog run, that might have worked. But WWE has signed him to a two-year contract. So WWE had to take a bigger-picture approach.

What WWE did with Ellsworth on Sunday night’s “TLC” pay-per-view was the beginning of constructing that bigger picture’s frame.

Now the wimpy guy who has rallied for a few fluky wins is also a bad guy. Ellsworth’s heel turn, which I endorsed weeks ago, gives WWE a lot more creative options for this suddenly intriguing character.

Give Ellsworth credit, too.
