Backstage Update On Chris Hero Possibly Returning To WWE, Usos / Naomi Injury Update, #1 Contender’s Match Set For NXT Next Week

Chris Hero

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting Chris Hero’s WWE return is not a done deal, but he has gone through the medical testing to make it possible.

Hero was rumored to be returning to the company sometime in 2017, but it was not known if he would return in a talent or coaching capacity. The Observer noted that there’s still no word on when he might rejoin WWE or what his role would be.

Naomi / The Usos

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting The Usos and Naomi were originally supposed to return this weekend, but the returns were delayed due to existing injuries.

Naomi and Jey Uso both have ankle injuries and were brought to TV, but neither one was used. Jimmy did appear on Talking Smack and implied they would be ready to take the Hype Bros’ place in the Smackdown Tag Team title picture, but the Observer noted The Usos aren’t currently scheduled to return until the WWE event at Madison Square Garden next week, and Naomi is not listed for any of the holiday shows.

The winner of that match will face NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: San Antonio on WWE Royal Rumble weekend.
