WhatCulture Pro Wrestling put on a huge show in Coventry, England this Sunday for the Mexican branch of the ongoing Pro Wrestling World Cup qualifiers. There’s a lot of news coming out of this event, which featured the likes of Rey Mysterio, Alberto el Patron, Cody Rhodes, Drew Galloway, Pentagon Jr., Fenix, Drago, and even former WWE Superstar Stu Bennett (Wade Barrett).

The focal point of the show were the six tournament matches that saw Pentagon Jr., El Ligero, Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera advance to the 32-man stage. It was Pentagon and Mysterio who would then advance to the Final 16, but not before Rey and Juventud reignited a classic WCW rivalry in the ring.

This was also Drew Galloway’s final WCPW show, as he prepares to relocate full-time to WWE, facing off against Cody Rhodes.

10. Joe Hendry def. Martin Kirby (c) to become the new WCPW Champion. This may not have gone down the way it was supposed to, or was scripted very well to look like that. Kirby took a hard bump into the barricade and was down for quite awhile with officials checking on him. When he got back in the ring he was wobbly, and Hendry quickly took him to the corner and slammed his head into the ground until the ref called the match via Knock-Out.

After the cameras stopped rolling, Hendry remained in the ring and took stunners from Primate, Rampage and Ameen. Stu Bennett then came out and gave him a stunner as well, followed by Matt Striker.
