NJPW Road to Dominion

June 9, 2017

Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan

1. Taka Michinoku & El Desperado def. Tetsuhiro Yagi & Shota Umino

2. Yuji Nagata, Tiger Mask, Togi Makabe, Hirai Kawato & Tomoyuki Oka def. Jushin Thunder Liger, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Manabu Nakanishi, Satoshi Kojima & Katsuya Kitamura

3. Yujiro Takahashi & Hangman Page def. Tomohiro Ishii & Gedo

4. Cody Rhodes, Tama Tonga, Tanga Roa & Bad Luck Fale def. Michael Elgin, David Finlay & War Machine. The two tag teams ended up brawling to the back. Cody Rhodes picked up the win with the Cross Rhodes on Finlay.

5. Minoru Suzuki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi def. Toru Yano, Hirooki Goto, Yoshi-Hashi & Jado. ZSJ actually won it for Suzuki-Gun with an armbar submission on Jado.

6. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Juice Robinson, Ricochet, Ryusuke Taguchi & Kushida def. Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi, Bushi, Sanada & Evil. Tanahashi played up his injury with a ton of tape on his shoulder, and didn’t work the bulk of the early match. He did eventually make the hot tag and fight off LIJ, rolling up Sanada for the win. LIJ attacked Tanahashi after the match and Naito picked apart his shoulder.

7. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks def. Kazuchika Okada & Roppongi Vice. Omega won the match with the One Winged Angel on Rocky Romero, which of course is a huge part of the Okada/Omega story. They’re playing up that Omega has beaten everyone with the move and nobody kicks out of it, but he didn’t hit it a single time on Okada during their legendary match.

After the main event, Kenny called Okada back into the ring to sort things out. Matt Jackson superkicked the champion, and The Elite all set up a table in the ring. He got him up in the One Winged Angel and teased putting him through it, but eventually put Okada down and let him go with a big smile on his face. Kenny got on the mic and said that he wanted to beat his rival at 100 percent so there can be no mistake that he is the true champion of New Japan.
