It has been 10 years since this match has occurred in WWE, and is widely viewed as one of the worse gimmicks matches in company history. However, according to PWInsider, it is making an ominous return.

The Punjabi Prison match is coming back to be featured at the upcoming SmackDown Live-exclusive WWE Battleground PPV on Sunday, July 23. The report adds WWE recently brought the prison structure out of its warehouse to clean it up and repair it for future use.

This match, which has a very awkward structure, has only been featured twice before. Initially, it was created during the feud between the Undertaker and Great Khali in 2006. Khali had to be removed from the match at Great American Bash due to wellness issues, and Big Show was the replacement. Undertaker was able to leave the bout victorious.

A year later, it returned during the feud between Khali and Batista, with Khali losing at the No Mercy pay-per-view.

Based on the current WWE Championship picture, with Randy Orton now vowing to take Jinder Mahal out due to the Singh Brothers physically assaulting his father Bob Orton, Jr., it looks like we are going to see Orton/Mahal III with the Punjabi Prison stipulation attached.
