Daniel Bryan confirmed a major match set to take place next week on Smackdown, and Shinsuke Nakamura will face off with John Cena in a first time ever ‘dream match’ for a chance to face Jinder Mahal at WWE Summerslam.
Jinder Mahal came out on tonight’s episode of WWE Smackdown Live and demanded a Summerslam opponent, and he got a challenge in the form of John Cena.
Jinder cut a promo about ending Randy Orton’s legacy and keeping his title as long as he wanted to, then demanded a new opponent so he could crush their dreams too. Cena came to the ring and Jinder said he knows what he’s going to say, but Cena says he is completely wrong. Cena congratulates him and says he respects Jinder for wanting to be champion, but it all won’t matter at Summerslam. He formally introduces himself and says he’s coming for his 17th title, and Jinder’s friends and anything he has won’t be enough, so consider this a warning and to cue his music.
Daniel Bryan comes out and says he appreciates the challenge and the quest for a historic title reign, but he and Shane McMahon make the matches here. Bryan says Cena was brilliant at Battleground, so next week he will face someone who was brilliant tonight, and he will face Shinsuke Nakamura in a number one contender’s match.
