Matt Boone
Matt Boone is a news contributor. Having joined the WrestleZone team back in 2000, he remains to this day the longest employed member of the staff.
Matt fell in love with professional wrestling the day he discovered it, which was during the WWF expansion days in the 1980s. While he remained in love throughout the Attitude Era in the 1990s, he must admit that he kinda started "seeing other people" (namely, mixed-martial arts) during the UFC boom period in the mid-2000s. While he never completely fell out of love, he admits that if his relationship with pro wrestling were a Facebook status, it would fall under "it's complicated."
What isn't complicated is his connection to the genre'.
Whether the product is hot or cold, he routinely turns his television to "USA Network" every Monday night just to see how his first love is holding up. Soured by the current PG-aimed product, he still can't shake his love for the business. Whether the stars and storylines are geared more towards comic book and cartoon fans, when the bell rings - he remembers what made him fall in love during the ragin' 80s!
If boxing is the sweet science, and MMA is human chess, pro wrestling is a game of checkers on acid. When done right, it's so simple, but it's quite the trip!
As far as background is concerned, consider Matt the Lennox Lewis of the U.S. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he migrated to Jacksonville, Florida, moved to Albany, New York and headed back to Jacksonville, Florida. A couple years were spent in small cities in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, before ultimately settling back in Jacksonville, Florida yet again. For now, at least.
Inspirations? Muhammad Ali (head-and-shoulders above any other inspirations), Howard Stern and Rocky Balboa, to name a few.
