Tony Khan Names His Favorite AEW Matches And Moments Of 2021

The past year has been an incredible run for All Elite Wrestling, as the company has delivered numerous amazing matches and moments throughout 2021. Company president Tony Khan has led the company to new heights, and with the year coming to a close, he recently looked back on some of the highlights of this run.

During an appearance on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, when asked to name his favorite matches of the year, Khan pointed to the instant classic Lights Out Match between Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker as the top television bout. He then stated that the dream match between Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega was “right there” in his consideration. Khan also named the Steel Cage bout between the Lucha Brothers and the Young Bucks was his top pay-per-view match of the year.

“[My] favorite TV match would be St. Patrick Day Slam, Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa, Lights Out Match,” said Khan. “And then favorite pay-per-view match would be Young Bucks vs. Lucha Brothers, Cage Match [at] All Out. It’s hard to pick on All Out because I also thought CM Punk vs. Darby [Allin] was outstanding, and there have been so many great pay-per-view matches. Darby and MJF had such a great match this [past] pay-per-view.

“…From the Grand Slam AEW Dynamite, I would absolutely say the 30-minute draw between [Bryan] Danielson and [Kenny] Omega would be right there with the Britt/Rosa Lights Out Match. The Fenix and PAC versus Young Bucks match from April 14 was outstanding. That was a five-star match on television.”

Likewise, when asked about his favorite moment of the year, Khan named CM Punk’s debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance and the arrival of both Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out.

“My favorite moment of the year would be, I have, can I also pick a TV and a pay-per-view? [For] TV, the First Dance, the arrival of CM Punk,” said Khan. “And then we have on pay-per-view, I would say the end of All Out, where Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole, the double reveal, Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson and then standing there, of course, as it would line up for the TV with Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus and Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks and Adam Cole. And it was like wow, and that would be my favorite pay-per-view moment, I think.”

Khan might have to reconsider his answers becuase AEW is set to end the year with a bang; the promotion will offer the buzzworthy “Winter is Coming” show on December 15 and the two-night Holiday Bash the following week.
