Ricochet: You’ve Got To Be A Little Crazy To Enjoy Matches With Guys Like Gunther

Ricochet says you have to be a little crazy to enjoy facing powerhouses like Gunther. He also comments on Braun Strowman’s “flippy-flipper” tweet.

Throughout his time in WWE, Ricochet has shared the ring with various Superstars, ranging from Gunther and Braun Strowman to  Mustafa Ali and Humberto. He continues to compete on WWE SmackDown, and he recently defeated Top Dolla in a Royal Rumble Qualifying Match.

Speaking with Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy, Ricochet shared his thoughts on wrestling larger opponents and stated that he enjoys these matches, while he also likes working with competitors who are closer to his size. He noted that he likes both the physicality and brutal aspect of facing someone like Gunther, but he also enjoys the technique required in matches with stars like Santos Escobar.

“I do enjoy those matches, with Gunther, with Sheamus, Bobby Lashley, the more physical altercations,” Ricochet said. “I don’t know what I enjoy more, that or like a Santos [Escobar], or Humberto, or someone like that, because they’re both so different and I like aspects of both of them. I like the physicality and the brutalness of the Sheamuses and the Gunthers, but I do like the speed and the technique and the skill of the other matches.

So it’s hard to pick which one you like more because, as an artist, you just want to create. So any time you can get an opportunity to create something, I think it’s wonderful. But I definitely do enjoy them. When you’re out there, there’s something about it,” he added. “You’ve got to be a little crazy to like it, but when you’re out there and the adrenaline’s going, two guys, we’re just battling. There’s something about it, you’ve got to be a little crazy.”

When asked about Strowman’s “flippy-flipper” comments, where Strowman tweeted that “no one cares about all these floppy floppers,” Ricochet shared his belief that fans on the internet talk more about different styles than wrestlers.

“I think that the internet talks more about it than the wrestlers do,” Ricochet said. “I think the internet cares more about it than the wrestlers do. For the most part, everybody backstage, they just want to make something together. They want to make a work of art for you guys. I don’t think anyone really cares about the styles of anyone else. So, if you’re really hearing it, it’s usually from more of the internet speakers than it actually is the locker room.”
