Chris Jericho Enjoys Helping Talent With Promos, Doesn’t See Himself As An Agent

Chris Jericho doesn’t know how much longer he will wrestle but he’ll worry about it when that time comes.

Speaking with Daily Star, Chris Jericho spoke about how he has been doing more work in All Elite Wrestling outside of the ring. Jericho still sees himself as an on-camera talent, but he enjoys helping AEW’s other wrestlers.

“Do I help with backstage pre-tapes? Absolutely. I probably do two or three of those a night, and maybe that’s kind of where I go to. I don’t really see myself as an agent, I’m more of an in-front-of-the-camera kinda guy. So, we’ll see. I don’t know what the future of me and wrestling is. I could quit tomorrow, or I could quit in six years, I don’t know.

“I’ll worry about that when it happens. Right now, I do enjoy the backstage role of helping guys and girls out with their interviews and promos. There’s a lot of stuff I do backstage at AEW. When we have Dynamite, I get there at 1 and leave at 11 or 12 – it’s non-stop, all the time. That’s fun for me, but to exclusively do just that? I don’t know. I still like being part of the show.”

Jericho stressed that he still has plenty he can do in the ring, but he wants to leave AEW in a good place whenever he’s done.

“Do I want to be world champion?” he went on to say. “If you don’t, you shouldn’t be in the business. But do I need to be? Probably not. I don’t really need a belt to be in the main event so as long as I can continue to tell stories that help grow the show, the talent and me… I just think that I’m really happy with what we’re doing. My biggest goal is to see us continue to build this amazing universe.”
