The WWE Speed titles aren’t going anywhere.
WWE Speed debuted in April as part of the company’s deal with X/Twitter. The agreement saw WWE superstars partake in three-minute match-ups that aired exclusively on the social media app. Triple H even introduced WWE Speed Championships for the men’s and women’s divisions.
The last WWE Speed match aired on July 9 and saw Sol Ruca successfully defend her Speed Women’s Championship against Alba Fyre. Ruca had defeated Candice LeRae for the championship back in April. As for the men’s title, reigning Champion El Grande Americano last defended the title against Berto in June.
After X dropped the WWE Speed broadcast, Sol Ruca continued to showcase the title on NXT television. Most recently, she showed up at WWE NXT Heatwave for a backstage segment with NXT General Manager Ava.
WWE Speed Titles are coming to NXT
Ava announced that the Men and Women Speed Championships will be defended on NXT and that the new number one contender to the Women’s Speed Title will be determined in a tournament featuring superstars from RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and TNA.
The winner of the tournament will get a shot at Sol Ruca for the title at WWE NXT No Mercy. For those unaware, Ruca also holds the NXT Women’s North American Championship. She last defended the title against Tatum Paxley on 8/5 NXT.
