AEW All Out Results: Review, Grades, Card For September 20

Our AEW All Out results for tonight include a World Championship match between Hangman Page and Kyle Fletcher, Toni Storm defending the Women’s World Championship in a four-way against Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Thekla, Darby Allin takes on Jon Moxley in a Coffin Match, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage take on FTR, and so much more.

This afternoon’s All Out event will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

AEW All Out Card

The announced card is as follows:

  • AEW World Championship: Hangman Page (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher
  • AEW Women’s World Championship: Toni Storm (c) vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Kris Statlander vs. Thekla
  • AEW Unified Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mascara Dorada
  • Four-Way Ladder Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship: Brodido (c) vs. Young Bucks vs. JetSpeed vs. Josh Alexander and Hechicero
  • TBS Championship: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Riho

All Out Tailgate Brawl Results:

The Tailgate Brawl special on TNT kicks off with tag team action as Powerhouse Hobbs and Samoa Joe of The Opps take on The Workhorsemen

Powerhouse Hobbs and Samoa Joe vs. The Workhorsemen

  • The finish of the match saw Samoa Joe lock JD Drake in the Coquina Clutch to win the match via submission.

Winners: Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs

Grade: B

There wasn’t much to this match, to be honest. It was basically just a showcase match for Joe and Hobbs. It was perfectly fine, but nothing that you would need to go out of your way to see.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Daniel Garcia (w/ Marina Shafir)

  • The finish of the match saw Daniel Garcia hit Katsuyori Shibata with a surfboard stomp to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Daniel Garcia

Grade: A-

This was the exact opposite of the opening contest. This match got a lot of time, and the two men told a great story in the ring. The interference of Shafir is already benefiting Garcia, and it changes his dynamic as a character moving forward.

Hologram, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong vs. The Frat House

  • The finish of the match saw Hologram hit a double stomp on Griff Garrison to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Hologram, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong

Grade: B

This show feels really weird for a pre-show from AEW, and it probably comes down to the time restrictions of being on TNT. This match felt a lot like the opener. Just a super quick match to showcase Hologram and to a lesser extent Paragon. It was fine, that’s about all I can say.

Tornado Tailgate Brawl: Megan Bayne, Penelope Ford, Skye Blue, and Julia Hart vs. Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron, and Queen Aminata

  • The finish of the match saw Willow Nightingale hit the Babe with the Powerbomb on Penelope Ford to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron, and Queen Aminata

Grade: B

I get what they were going for here, and typically, the hardcore matches for the women go very well. But I think eight women might have been a bit too many, and it just resulted in a match that didn’t meet my expectations. Much like most of the matches on this pre-show, it was fine. Now bring on the main show!

AEW All Out Results:

The main show kicks off with an entrance for Bryan Danielson to join the commentary team. The opening match is FTR taking Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs. FTR (w/ Big Stoke)

  • The finish of the match saw Adam Copeland hit Cash Wheeler with the spear to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

Grade: A+

This was a ton of fun. I’ve been waiting to see this match for years, and it didn’t disappoint. I give a lot of credit to Harwood for working this match with a broken nose. I’m sure that wasn’t easy. This was a great way to kick off the pay-per-view, and the live crowd really loved it. We got some awesome tributes, the debut of Beth Copeland, and so much more! We’re off to a great start!

The Aftermath…

After the match, Beth Copeland celebrated with her husband and Christian Cage. Copeland tried to get a hug from Cage, but before he would agree, Mother Wayne wheeled out Nick Wayne in his wheelchair, allowing FTR to attack them from behind. FTR handcuff Copeland to the ropes as they hit both Cage and Beth with spike piledrivers.

Big Bill (w/ Bryan Keith) vs. Eddie Kingston

  • The finish of the match saw Eddie Kingston hit Big Bill with a spinning backfist to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Eddie Kingston

After the match, Keith and Bill attack Kingston, who is saved by HOOK. A new allegiance is formed between these two New Yorkers.

Grade: B+

With both Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay out of action, the return of Eddie Kingston couldn’t have come at a better time for AEW. I’m not entirely convinced Big Bill was the right guy to bring him back against, but he’s back, and that’s all that matters. The finish itself looked a bit whiffed, but these things happen. Overall, I enjoyed the match. Welcome back, Mad King!

Tables N’ Tacks: MJF vs. Mark Briscoe

  • The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe hit MJF with the Jay Driller in the tacks to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

Grade: A-

Wow! This match was freaking wild! I didn’t expect to see MJF lose back-to-back matches in 48 hours. This was a huge win for Briscoe, and that can’t be understated. Maybe he will eventually get that TNT Championship off Kyle Fletcher after all? I guess we’ll see soon enough.

The Hurt Syndicate vs. Ricochet and GOA

  • The finish of the match saw Ricochet hit MVP with the Spirit Gun to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Ricochet and GOA

Grade: A

This match was a ton of fun! I think it’s my favorite match the Hurt Syndicate have had on an AEW pay-per-view. They’ve had a lot of great TV matches, but this was their first truly great pay-per-view match to me. This was a gigantic win for Ricochet and GOA. I hope this feud is just getting started because I want to see more between these six men.

TBS Championship: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Riho

  • The finish of the match saw Mercedes Moné rake Riho’s eyes behind the referee’s back and hit her with the Moné Maker to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW TBS Champion, Mercedes Moné

Grade: A-

Riho was rusty returning to the ring a few weeks ago, but you didn’t see any of that this afternoon against Mercedes. That match rocked. The crowd seemed a bit tired throughout it, though, and wished they had a bit more energy, but these things happen. It didn’t take away from the match itself.

AEW Unified Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mascara Dorada

  • The finish of the match saw Kazuchika Okada hit Mascara Dorada with the Rainmaker to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW Unified Champion, Kazuchika Okada

Grade: A-

Hot damn! I will admit, going into this match, I wasn’t particularly hyped for this one, as I’m more anticipating the singles match between Okada and Takeshita, and just felt like adding Dorada to the mix was a cheap way to extend this feud out. But I’m happy to say that I couldn’t have been more wrong. This match freaking ruled, and Dorada added a ton to this matchup. However, I hope we do get that singles match between Okada and Takeshita sooner rather than later.

Coffin Match: Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley (w/ Marina Shafir)

  • The finish of this match saw PAC return to attack Darby Allin and put him in a bodybog before tossing him in the coffin, allowing Jon Moxley to kick it shut.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Grade: A

This match was freaking insane. I didn’t expect to see PAC return tonight, and I’m not thrilled to see Allin lose this match, but I’m going to let it play out and see what happens next. It doesn’t take away from the fact that this match was incredible from top to bottom. Allin really needs some help, and I’m curious to see who’s going to come to his aid with Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland both sidelined.

It’s time to get freshly squeezed once again…

Mark Briscoe is in the locker room with the Conglomeration and Roderick Strong. Briscoe is celebrating putting MJF in his rearview mirror and challenges Don Callis to give them three opponents on Dynamite.

Brisoce names himself and Hologram. Willow asks who the third man would be. Briscoe says he’s glad she asked and asks Kyle O’Reilly, who’s on the phone, if he’s ready to come back, and O’Reilly says he said, “Whatever.” Everyone gives the Orange Cassidy thumbs-up.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Toni Storm (c) vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Kris Statlander vs. Thekla

  • The finish of the match saw Kris Statlander use the Seatbelt pin on Toni Storm to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And NEW AEW Women’s World Champion, Kris Statlander!

Grade: A-

I’m shocked. This was a great match, but there’s no way I would have called Kris Statlander leaving All Out with the Women’s World Championship. I’m very intrigued about where things are going to go from here. This certainly changes things in the women’s division a great deal.

Four-Way Ladder Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship: Brodido (c) vs. Young Bucks vs. JetSpeed vs. Josh Alexander and Hechicero

  • The finish of the match saw Brodido take out the competition, allowing Bandido to climb the ladder and retrieve the titles.

Winners: And still AEW World Tag Team Champions, Brodido

Grade: A+

This match was balls-to-the-wall CRAZY! All four teams bumped like crazy, and I genuinely hope all eight men are able to walk away from this match without an injury. This was one of the best ladder matches I’ve seen in a while, and the crowd was super hot for it, which is a testament this late in the show.

Jack Perry is back… and he’s not alone!

After the match, the Young Bucks are confronted by Jack Perry in the ring. He gets some shots on them both, but interference from Rocky Romero allows the Bucks to take control. They set him up for a BTE Trigger, but notice Perry is smiling.

The lights go out, and we see that Perry was the one who brought Luchasaurus back to life several weeks ago. The lights come back on, and Luchasaurus is in the ring and chokeslams both Young Bucks. He tosses away his Killswitch belt, and they play Tarzan Boy. The crowd is loving every second of this.

He set that man on FIRE!

We go backstage with the Death Riders and the coffin where Allin still is. Jon Moxley says he hopes Darby Allin learned his lesson, but he wants a moment alone with him. The Death Riders leave in vehicles and Allin pops out with a pipe and hits Moxley in the throat and proceeds to knock him out.

Allin puts Moxley in a body bag and sets him on fire before security comes to put him out and break everything up. This was truly a wild moment.

AEW World Championship: Hangman Page (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher

  • The finish of the match saw Hangman Page hit Kyle Fletcher with the Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW World Champion, Hangman Page

Grade: A

Hangman Page said something to Kyle Fletcher in the ring before leaving up the ramp with the title as AEW All Out goes off the air.

AEW All Out Review:

Top to bottom, this was an excellent pay-per-view. There wasn’t a bad match on this show. And there are quite a few shocking moments with returns, debuts, and title changes. As an AEW fan, I really don’t think you could ask for anything more than what you got this evening.

Tony Khan has an “important announcement” on Wednesday, which I would imagine will set the stage for WrestleDream next month. We’ll find out soon enough.
