Cody Rhodes has praised a fellow superstar for getting his new gimmick over with the WWE Universe.
The American Nightmare appears to be a huge fan of El Grande Americano. During a recent appearance on All The Smoke podcast, Rhodes said the gimmick could’ve been a “death sentence” for any other wrestler, but the person behind the mask turned it into something special.
“That’s always a big thing in wrestling,” Rhodes said. “Take something that’s always a little silly, and then you blow it up. El Grande Americano’s a guy we got right now, who is doing this exact thing. He’s taken something that could have been a death sentence for another wrestler and is just making it special, and they don’t mean it to be a death sentence but they mean it to be a challenge.” [H/T: Cultaholic]
Cody Rhodes retained his title at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Cody Rhodes recently ran it back with Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The bitter rivals clashed at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, with the match stipulation stating that the title would change hands in the event of a disqualification finish.
The closing moments of the match saw Rhodes plant McIntyre face-first onto the championship belt with a DDT before securing the win with a Cross Rhodes. He previously retained his title against McIntyre at WrestlePalooza.
