Chris Jericho Comments On Potential WWE Talks Prior To AEW Return

Chris Jericho has addressed speculation surrounding potential talks with WWE before his recent return to All Elite Wrestling.

Jericho made his surprise comeback on the April 1 episode of AEW Dynamite. During his return promo, the former ROH World Champion referred to AEW as his “home,” seemingly shutting down rumors that he could be headed elsewhere.

The following week, Ricochet interrupted Jericho to set up a feud between the two stars. Ricochet later defeated Jericho in singles competition at AEW Dynasty, and both men are now set to collide in a multi-man Stadium Stampede match this Sunday at AEW Double or Nothing.

Fightful Select reported that Jericho had signed a new multi-year deal with AEW. The report also claimed that Jericho and WWE did hold discussions, with the sports entertainment giant reportedly interested in bringing the veteran star back for a potential retirement run.

Chris Jericho on WWE return rumors

Speaking during a recent interview with Ringer Wrestling, Chris Jericho commented on the rumors linking him to WWE prior to his AEW return.

“The interesting thing about fans and having a career where you can watch anything online, is that fans in this day and age form their own opinions, and it becomes law because the opinions spread.

“Whatever people believed or didn’t believe, I wasn’t ever a part of any of it. I think the best part was there was so much speculation of what is he going to do, that either way, with the tribalism of wrestling nowadays, there would be people happy about it and not happy about. ‘This is the worst thing ever’ and ‘this is the best thing ever’.

“The rumours became facts to the fans. I’ll leave that for another day, I like the idea of the intrigue…” [H/T WrestleTalk]
