Chris Jericho honored late wrestling legend Sabu with a special celebration at AEW Double or Nothing.
The penultimate contest of the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view was the massive 14-man Stadium Stampede match. Chris Jericho teamed up with Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Kenny Omega, Jack Perry, and the Young Bucks to take on Ricochet, Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun, Mark Davis, Andrade El Idolo, David Finlay, and Clark Connors.
The wrestlers delivered big time in an entertaining contest that lasted a little over 31 minutes. The action spilled all over the Louis Armstrong Stadium, with the competitors bringing out all kinds of weapons, including a vacuum bag, tennis balls, trash cans, and shopping carts. Jack Perry tried to squash Mark Davis with the Jurassic Express bus against a golf cart, and even a food fight broke out during the contest.
In the end, Bishop Kaun shoved Ricochet out of the ring as the babyfaces were almost done with him, and took a seven-way superkick. Chris Jericho followed up with a Lionsault to pick up the pinfall victory.
Chris Jericho willingly leaped through a table to honor Sabu
As the winners celebrated at ringside, Chris Jericho paid tribute to the late hardcore wrestling legend Sabu by jumping through a table and raising his finger skyward. Taz explained the significance of the celebration on commentary, saying Sabu used to break tables like that while celebrating a victory.
Chris Jericho honored Sabu at the event in multiple ways. Sabu passed away on May 11, 2025, which was during Jericho’s hiatus from AEW. May 24 also marked the third anniversary of the hardcore icon’s surprise AEW debut.
Sabu appeared on the May 24, 2023, episode of Dynamite, where the promotion revealed him as the special enforcer for Jericho’s unsanctioned match against Adam Cole at that year’s Double or Nothing PPV.
