More details have emerged regarding WWE’s censorship of blood in the replays of premium live events on Netflix.
The replay of the WWE Night of Champions PLE on Netflix saw Bron Breakker’s face getting blurred after he got busted open during his steel cage match against Seth Rollins. It left the fans questioning Netflix’s logic, since the platform streams many movies and TV shows featuring graphic violence and mature scenes.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has provided an update on the situation, stating that the edits to the match between Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins at Night of Champions were produced by WWE itself. He also noted that in addition to blurring Breakker’s face, the promotion replaced the camera angles used during the live broadcast with alternate angles to hide him.
He further stated that there is at least one more instance of WWE cutting to show a crowd shot for a few seconds instead of showing the action after Bron Breakker started bleeding.
The promotion also replaced the “Holy sh**” chant from the crowd when Rollins put Breakker through a table with a superplex with a “This is awesome” chant. Johnson notes that this has become a common practice for WWE replays on Netflix.
WWE’s next big premium live event is SummerSlam. The two-night event will take place on August 1 and 2 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The promotion has already announced Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match, Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, and IYO SKY vs. Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship for the event.
