AEW Dynamite Results

Ahead of his AEW World Championship match against MJF, Kenny Omega speaks with Renee Paquette and admits that this is arguably the biggest match of his career.

Paquette reminds Omega that a victory over MJF will make him AEW World Champion once again, but a loss means he will never challenge for the championship again.

Omega calls the situation “do or die” and says his back is against the wall. He explains that throughout his career, he has produced some of his best performances when facing those odds, referencing his time in the independent scene with promotions such as Jersey All Pro Wrestling, PWG, and DDT.

Omega reveals that The Young Bucks are not by his side tonight and says the only person standing with him is Michael Nakazawa, who has supported him for nearly 20 years.

The former AEW World Champion says that if this is truly his final opportunity to win AEW gold as a singles competitor, he is willing to shake MJF’s hand and congratulate him on a successful title reign.

However, Omega makes it clear that defeating him will not be easy. He questions whether MJF has the toughness and determination required to survive the match and end his final chance at achieving his dream of becoming champion again and headlining AEW’s biggest event at Wembley Stadium.

Omega references his 27-year career and warns MJF that this match will not be like their previous encounter in Vancouver.

“I’m ready this time,” Omega says before closing the interview with his trademark farewell: “Goodbye and good night. Bang.”

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Chris Jericho

Ciampa goes for the cover after hitting a second knee strike, but Jericho kicks out before the referee’s count reaches three. Ciampa looks to put the match away with another running knee strike, but Jericho counters and locks in the Liontamer.

Ciampa reaches for the sand bucket at ringside, but the referee pulls it away from him. However, Ciampa manages to grab a handful of sand and throws it into Jericho’s eyes before connecting with a third running knee strike to secure the victory.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa exits the ring and grabs a steel chair, using it to blast Jericho in the head. He then brings out a power tool and teases using it on Chris Jericho, but security quickly intervenes and prevents him from causing further damage.

Ciampa eventually backs away from Jericho and heads to the back, but not before drilling through a pool ring with the power tool on his way out.

Grade: B+

I really like the unique stage setup for AEW Dynamite Beach Break. Having Chris Jericho and Tommaso Ciampa go on first was definitely the right call, as their match set the tone for the rest of the night in a major way.

I sometimes forget that Jericho is 55 years old because he continues to deliver when paired with the right opponent. As for Ciampa, tonight’s victory over a legend of this sport could be exactly what he needs to rebuild momentum.

The Brawling Birds Are Coming

A vignette airs featuring The Brawling Birds taking on a group of men inside a pub. Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor unleash their double lariat finisher on one opponent before Windsor follows up by smashing a glass over his head.
