Japanese pro wrestling star KENTA, who recently signed a deal with WWE, spoke to media in Japan after his WWE signing over the weekend, and the following is some of what KENTA had to say:

-He said he is currently in the process of relocating to Orlando, as he will be starting his run in WWE at NXT and the Performance Center.

-As for his ring name, KENTA says he has no problem with WWE changing his name if officials feel it’s necessary.

-He said he’s working on his English, and despite being a big name in Japan, he has no problem starting from the bottom in WWE in order to make a name for himself in the company.

Paglino: Some people are disappointed that WWE is sending KENTA to developmental, but I have no problem with it at all. People seem to equate developmental with “learning how to wrestle,” and that’s untrue. We all saw what happened when WWE rushed Sin Cara to the main roster, and the issue was not that he needed to learn to wrestle, but he needed to hone in the on the WWE style and schedule. Any good performer, in any form of entertainment, is constantly honing his skills, so I have no problem with KENTA spending some time in NXT to adapt to WWE’s style of wrestling.

will, however, have a problem if WWE debuts KENTA as a stereotypical, Japanese cartoon comedy act. Here’s to hoping WWE capitalizes on an impactful, public contract signing by allowing KENTA to maximize his potential.
