Daniel Bryan Ascends, Baron Corbin Erupts As RAW, SmackDown Set Sights On WrestleMania Season

On RAW, the loss of Roman Reigns continues to muddy the waters and the newly revealed injury to Braun Strowman clearly leaves the brand scrambling with their top champion only appearing on a sporadic basis.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose is by far the top storyline on Monday nights and has been done very well. The Lunatic Fringe excels in this role and has really embraced it well. Rollins is ready to be the standard bearer and with Strowman fizzling, it could be time for Rollins to rise up against Brock Lesnar.

Baron Corbin reminded everyone how solid he can be with his brutal assault on Braun and he has been really good in the general manager role, but, like Smackdown, he is one of a ton of heels without a strong stable of faces to square off against.

The entire roster has been decimated by the loss of Reigns, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and now possibly Dolph Ziggler and Braun Strowman.

That has allowed Bobby Lashley and Elias to step up, but both have been dwarfed by the rise of Drew McIntyre who is clearly ready to move into main event status in the near future.

The return of an apparent face Bray Wyatt at the weekend’s Starrcade event definitely could liven things up on Monday night.

Ronda Rousey continues to dominate the women’s division, and the merch tent. But Jax has been solid in her heel turn and it a welcome and legitimate threat to Ronda’s dominance.

Rousey would probably be served well to have a weird roll up after distraction type loss on RAW or something to just appear mortal and make Nia and Tamina seem like a more legitimate threat.

It is difficult to see the brand moving forward Bayley or Sasha back into prominence and the Riott Squad has already taken their shot and missed. What is left after defeating Jax?

The tag division continues to be led by a strong team with Authors of Pain at the top, but the Drake Maverick pee angle? Really, what can be said about that? Just ugh.

There is little to suggest Chad Gable and Bobby Roode or the B Team or The Revival are going to really get a shot to challenge AOP. Just another spot, like the women’s division, where the writers are in a hole in trying to present a legitimate challenger.
