Nash Was Right; Seriously, These Emails…

SERIOUSLY, THESE E-MAILS…

…suck out loud. For every 50 I get, one is usable. I’m not interested in your venting, or your opinion. You’re the mark, I’m the expert. Ask a question, I answer it. Get it right, I’m begging you.

Here are the best of a sorry bunch:

*In "The Death of WCW," Bryan Alvarez wrote that Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay "hated each other." In at least two shoot interviews, Bobby Heenan said that he and Schiavone disliked each other. Did you see evidence of any of this? And why is Schiavone disliked by wrestling fans in general?

"The Death of WCW" was, if you’re being charitable, incomplete. If you’re being honest, it’s safe to refer to it as wildly inaccurate. It was just a quick-buck hack job written by a couple of Meltzer stooges who weren’t there, so they gleaned "facts" from Wrestling Observer Newsletters, basically rewriting Meltzer’s work for fun and profit. That’s not to criticize Dave. Despite his flaws, he’s still the gold standard. But something was lost in the translation. I never witnessed animosity between Schiavone and Tenay, or Schiavone and Heenan. I never even suspected the former. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. I know Schiavone didn’t appreciate Bobby’s lack of professionalism. The only time I ever heard voices raised in the announcers’ room was when Gene Okerlund once yelled at Scott Hudson. Hudson had a high-paying government job, a position I believe he still holds. He therefore didn’t care what WCW paid him and wound up getting peanuts: $1,000 a week, if memory serves. Okerlund got pissed because he thought Hudson settling for paltry sums brought down the price tag on all of us. Know what? Okerlund was right. As for marks not liking Schiavone, those who didn’t were wrong. Schiavone was great, albeit a bit burned out by the end. Hard worker.
