Top 5 SummerSlams Ever!

1. SummerSlam 1992

This was the only SummerSlam to take place outside of the United States. London got a treat in what turned out to be my top pick for best SummerSlam ever. Its amazing to think that there was no Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair didn’t fight, Shawn Michaels was just starting his singles carer for Vince, and Steve Austin, and The Rock were years away. So what made this night so good? The only time an Intercontinental title match finished a PPV. England’s own, British Bulldog battled his real life relative, Bret Hart in what seems like the original “Iron Man Match.” Vince McMahon barely had his voice while doing commentary, after a solid card including a great showing between the Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man. Through the whole night in the UK, the match that Hart says is his best would be the match that puts this SummerSlam above all others. A back and forth match that had one of those great endings. There was no routine set up for a typical signature move finish, but rather two of the best going 110 MPH and than in a matter of 3 seconds, an abrupt finish that brought the crowd to a roar.

Reflecting back on these days gets me excited and think that perhaps when Sunday evening rolls around, we could be getting ready to see another classic in the making, or it could just be Summer Fest!
