What’s Bothering Me (In Professional Wrestling)

NUMBER 2: "Let me tell you supm'n!"

Nick Paglino reported an exclusive story here on WZ a while back that stated Vince McMahon was high on Booker T as a commentator.  If that's honestly the case, that man has completely lost his mind at this point.  Take every negative quality a wrestling commentator could possibly possess, multiply them by ten, and the result would be how I view Booker T as an announcer.

McMahon reportedly likes the "street perspective" that Booker adds to commentary.  I really don't know what that means.  What I do know, however, is that the time Michael Cole (and Jerry Lawler during pay per views) spend responding to Booker's "street perspective" could be better suited for the stories going on in the ring.

The worst part is knowing ahead of time that Booker is going to say something wrong, completely off the wall, or downright dumb every week.  Rather than enjoying what's going on "in the ring", you have to have a pen and paper nearby to write down all the "Booker Bytes" to discuss the next day with your wrestling buddies.  "I know man – 'the angle bone is connected to the knee bone' – what the hell was that???"

Booker was absolutely great in Tough Enough.  Makes sense – he's a WRESTLER!  I'm sure he would make an excellent agent.  Maybe he's a good booker.  Hell, I think he can still go in the ring.  But under no circumstance should he be commentating a wrestling event.

Nick's WZ story indicates Booker probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon.  And "that" bothers me.  I live on hope and "one day" scenarios.
