Stars In Progress: James Storm, Vengeance, Scott Hall & More

Impact Wrestling This Week

One Verbal Step Down

Impact Wrestling on Thursday nights has been the best wrestling on television lately, in my opinion.  But aside from James Storm's surprise victory over Kurt Angle to win the World Heavyweight Championship (and even that match was less than five minutes long), this week's Impact was AWFUL!

I understand that the Impact following a pay per view often has more talking and backstage segments than normal, but this was just ridiculous.  Since I don't really count the Knockouts tag team match they placed at the end of the first hour, Impact Wrestling didn't start an actual match until approx. 20 minutes into the second hour!  They had a main event bout (FOR THE WORLD TITLE) that lasted 5 minutes and the entire broadcast had somewhere around 25 minutes of wrestling total.

I am not one that typically minds less wrestling when it comes to a wrestling company's weekly broadcast, so if "I'm" complaining, it was probably too much talking.

Although I give Impact a step down this week, I fully expect the show will return to its usual self quickly.  They had a lot to cover coming out of Sunday's pay per view with Hogan's face turn, Dixie Carter being back in charge, her putting Sting in charge of Impact apparently, and the BFG screwjob in the main event.  I even understand Velvet Sky needing some time to thank the fans.  But when Gunner is getting mic time on a show like that, you know it's overkill.

Here's to next week and TNA getting back to their usual, consistent showings on Thursday nights.
