WWE and THQ partnered together today at their SummerSlam Axxess event to present a live roster reveal for the upcoming WWE '13 video game. The following are results from the reveal, as well as the IGN excuslive pre-show.
Single-player Update: The "story mode" will feature a two-year time table covering the biggest angles of the Attitude Era. There will be over 100 unlockable items throughout the "campaign", with iconic bonus matches being unlocked as the player fullfills (or doesn't fullfill, your choice) certain goals. WWE has lent numerous video clips from their vault to the product as well.
New Feature: Certain WWE Superstars can now performe Catch Finishers, which allow them to counter a top-rope dive or springboard move with their finishing manuever. For instance, Randy Orton will be able to counter a Shooting Star Press with an RKO, and John Cena will turn a dive into the Attitude Adjustment.
New Feature: The player will be able to collapse the ring, but only with Super Heavyweight Superstars.
New Feature: Brand new "OMG Moments" can be triggered around the arena with saved finishers, such as breaking through a barricade.
Updgrade Sound: WWE '13 will feature the most realistic sound, as the development team captured live clips from actual WWE audiences, including the incredibly hot Miami crowd from the night after WrestleMania 28.
Returing Feature: The pre-set finisher icons from the "Smackdown" games series has returned. This is essentially a handicap, and allows you to decide how many finishers a player or computer opponent starts with.
Returing Feature: WWE Universe – THQ's unique Exhibition style mode – will return, but no new details have been released at this time.
